Welcome Matthew Robert who arrived at Bringing Hope to the Family when he was less than two weeks old. Matthew’s mother passed away during his birth and his family was too poor and vulnerable to care for him. We all look forward to a very long and healthy life for him and to one day watch him graduate from higher education!

Our recent trip to the Village of Kaihura was a transformative experience filled with meaningful achievements that directly impacted the local community.
One of the highlights of our visit was the commissioning of two water wells and two water tanks. These are vital resources for the people in Kaihura and surrounding areas. Access to clean water remains a critical issue, and this initiative provides hundreds of families with the ability to obtain safe drinking water which will drastically improve the overall health and quality of life in the region.

In addition, we celebrated the graduation of 150 students from the New Hope Vocational Institute (NHVI), marking a significant milestone in their lives. These graduates, equipped with vocational skills in areas such as shoemaking, tailoring, hairdressing, carpentry and other trades, are now empowered to create better futures for themselves and their families. Seeing them complete their training was a powerful reminder of how education can change lives and uplift entire communities.

BHTFUSA hosted our annual three-day Building Men and Building Women Conference, which brought together 150 New Hope Vocational Institute students for a time of learning and personal growth. This event focused on the values of creating a business, self-reliance, personal accountability, and leadership, providing the young men and women with tools to become role models and changemakers within their communities.

Additionally, we partnered with the High Hope Medical Centre team to organize a one-day medical outreach event. This initiative provided essential medical care to many in the local community who might otherwise lack access to healthcare. From basic health checks to HIV/AIDS testing, Typhoid, Malaria, prenatal care and other specialized care, the outreach served as a beacon of hope and support for those in need.
With deep gratitude, we also celebrate the generosity of a foundation that made it possible for 25 students to attend universities and trade schools. Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, their support arrived like an unexpected blessing, transforming what once seemed impossible into a reality. This gift has given these students the chance to pursue their dreams, and we are forever thankful for their kindness and impact”
Lastly, we watched firsthand how the construction is moving along for the new 4,000 square foot Jane Hamp Maternity Ward, an extension of the New Hope Medical Centre! Follow along to learn more!

Did we mention that we had the privilege of meeting the Duke Engage students who every year complete an immersive summer of service in partnership with BHTF? They spent two months living at BHTF, and their primary focus was the construction of a project at High Hope Primary School, teaching, and assisting with the new NHVI Boys Dorm.

Meet the TAF (Teachable, Available, and Faithful) Group, which has been fostering accountability for the past two years. This group provides a space for men to set and achieve their goals while offering guidance and motivation. Recently, 60 men attended a two-day conference in Kyenjojo, supported by sponsors like Drum Workshop Inc. (DW Drums) from California and the Olive Garden. And a special shout-out to Gene Holetich for his tireless work in organizing and conducting this important program.

Finishing 2024 Strong:
We Need You Now More Than Ever
|
|
As we work to wrap up 2024 on a high note, we encourage everyone in our BHTFUSA family to stay connected and engaged. Now more than ever, your involvement is crucial to achieving our year-end goals and setting the stage for what we can accomplish in the new year. Here are a few ways you can make a difference:
- Continue Your Generosity: Whether through monthly donations or year-end giving, your financial support is what powers our programs. By contributing today, you help provide clean water, education, healthcare, and hope for hundreds of children and families in Uganda. And we now accept Apple Pay!
- Spread the Word: Share our story with friends, family, and your social networks. The more people who learn about our mission, the stronger our community becomes. You can amplify your impact by simply talking about the work we’re doing and inviting others to get involved.
- Volunteer Your Time: We’re always looking for passionate volunteers, whether on the ground or virtually. If you have skills in marketing, education, healthcare, or fundraising, consider lending your talents to support our work.
- Join Us in the Field: If you’re looking for a hands-on way to make an impact, we encourage you to consider joining us on a trip to Uganda in 2025. From participating in conferences to supporting our medical outreach, there are so many ways you can be involved directly in changing lives.
Why Your Support Matters
When you support BHTFUSA, you’re not just making a donation—you’re making a real, tangible difference in the lives of individuals who rely on our programs for education, healthcare, and clean water. Your generosity helps children stay in school, ensures families have access to medical care, and creates opportunities for young adults to pursue their dreams of higher education and self-sufficiency.
As noted earlier, we are thrilled to have already secured funding for 25 university students, but we’re not stopping there. Our goal is to raise enough to send at least 15 more students to university before the end of the year. Every gift, no matter the size, brings us closer to that goal and creates a ripple effect of positive change.
Looking Forward to 2025: A Vision of Growth and Transformation
As we look ahead to 2025, our vision is clear: continue to uplift and empower vulnerable communities through education, healthcare, and sustainable development. Every initiative we undertake is made possible by the unwavering support of our community, and as we plan, we invite you to stay involved and continue walking this journey with us.
2025 will be a year of expansion and impact. From growing the New Hope Vocational Institute with new programs to launching our much-anticipated maternity ward, BHTFUSA is ready to make a lasting difference. But none of this can happen without your support. Your contributions—whether financial, volunteer hours, or spreading the word—are the heartbeat of everything we do.
Stay Engaged – We Can’t Do This Without You
BHTFUSA’s impact is a reflection of the love, kindness, and generosity of people like you. As we work to finish 2024 strong and set the stage for an even bigger 2025, we ask that you stay with us every step of the way. Your continued involvement ensures that the children, families, and communities we serve can continue to thrive.
Let’s finish this year stronger than ever, knowing that together, we can—and will—build a brighter, healthier, and more hopeful future for all.
With heartfelt thanks,
Christine Deschaine
